Okay, we’ll admit it. Because we can speak business, our architecture work lends a new credence to IT’s value proposition. (You might even get more funding after you’ve hired us for an architecture review or design activity.) We’ll look at your business requirements for BI and data delivery. We’ll peer under the hood of your source systems and look at the horsepower of your existing database platforms.
Your ETL infrastructure and staging areas could probably use some juice. We’ll examine how your core data content has been structured and designed. We’ll take a lap or two around ad hoc reporting, bulk report distribution, and data provisioning to data marts, specialized analytical platforms and, yes, your data warehouse. We’ll even give your pit crews some tips on how you’re maintaining and supporting the current environment.
We’ll probably give you some kudos and some attaboys. After all, you and your team have worked hard. But we’ll also tell you where the room is to improve your architecture design, scale up your platforms, and invest in the future. We wouldn’t be doing our jobs if we didn’t.
